Excerpt from:  Honoring the Beloved, a commentary  on Salatul Taj

Miftah ul Wusool Ilaa Bab’ir Rasool Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim
The following is taken from “The key to arriving at the door of the Messenger Sall Allahu Alaihi Wa sallam” by Ash Shaykh Muhammad Sadiq Alawi (Hafidh Allahu wa Naf’an Allahu Bih).

“This salutation is famous throughout the world. It was written by Shaykh Abu Bakr bin Salem (R.A) who is buried in Aynat, Hadramawt. He was from among the great Awliyaa of Allah and is known as “Fahr al Wujud” (The honor of creation). It is enough of a testification of the greatness of his rank to know that this Salutation has achieved an acceptance throughout the world. This salutation is an overflowing spring of blessings and is one of the favorite salutations of all lovers of the Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim.

Innumerable Awliyaa and Saliheen have adopted this particular salutation as their daily prayer and have recited it in abundance. The benefits of this are so vast they cannot be completely encompassed. Its constant recitation brings the reader purity of heart and a vision of the Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim. This Salutation increase’s one in sustenance, protects the reader from harms of magic and Jinn as well as removing calamities away. It is a beautiful Salutation short in its length but vast in its benefits.”

“The Salutation of the Crowning Adornment” [salatu-t tajiyyah] is a benediction that has found universal fame. It was written by Habib Abu Bakr b. Salim, Allah illuminate his resting abode, who is laid to rest in Aynat, Hadramawt. He is known by the epithet, “honour of creation” [fakhru-l wujud]. His saintliness and piety is widely acknowledged.

This salutation is an overflowing spring of blessings and is certainly one of the favourite benedictions of all lovers of the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace. Many saints [awliya] and pious [salihin] have embraced Salatu-t Taj as part of their daily litany and attained much Enabling Grace [tawfiq] as a result.

The benefits of this prayer are so vast that they cannot be completely encompassed. Its recitation brings the reader purity of heart, clarity of intellect and vision of the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace. Regular recitation increases sustenance, protects from the evils of magic and jinn, and removes calamities.

The many references to the blessed night journey and ascension to the Heavens [al-isra wa-l mi'raj] of the Holy Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, makes this benediction a favourite to be recited on the night of 27th Rajab, wherein that momentous event is widely believed to have happened.

Darood Taj along with the recitation of Dua’ Ganjul Arsh and Darood Akbar were prescribed as a panacea to remove the Shaytanic stranglehold western music had on most of the American Muslims at that time.

Commenting on The Book “Mishkatus Salawaat” by Maulana Ilyas Burney Rahmatullah ‘alaihi  an excellent Majmu’a (collection of Salawaat) from various sources including  Darood Taj, Dalaailul Khayraat of Imam Muhammad ibn Sulaiman al Juzuli Radhi Allahu ‘anhu, and Bashaairul Khayraat of Sayyidinaa Muhyuddin Shaykh Abdul Qaadir al Jilani Quddus Allahu Sirruhul atheem, The writer at infinitelight.org mentions and I quote, “As-salaat u’t taajiyyah is very popular. It was composed by al-Habib Abi Bakr bin Salim al-’Alawi al-Husayni, Radhi Allahu ‘Anhu (919-992 A.H), and in its original form is given in two kitabs, namely,
  • Rasaailu Haammah fi’l Ad’iyah (Important Writings on Supplications, p. 320)
  • Risaalat-ul-Hajj al-Mabrur wa Sa’yan Mashkoor (A Treatise on Accepted Hajj and Meritorious Sa’y, p. 180) of Shaykh Muhammad ‘AbdAllah bin Shaykh al-Husaini, Naf’an Allahu bih.
In its expanded form, it is found in kitabs such as:

  • Qadiri Ridhwi Majmu’ah Wazaaif (Collected Regular Invocations in the Qadiri Ridhwi Tariqa) of Janab Iqbal Ahmad Nuri and Janab Anees Ahmad Nuri (in Urdu), and
  • Durood Shareef (Noble Blessings) of Khwaja Nithaar Ahmad (in Urdu).
Benefit of reciting Durood-e-Taj

There are limitless benefits for this Blessed Darood Sharif [Salaat 'alan Nabi Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim] and they cannot all be written. A few are mentioned.  If someone wants to see Rasool Allah Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim then at the height of the month on Yawmul Jumu’ah [Friday] after salaatul Ishaa having performed wudhu and putting on Attar he should recite this Darood Taj seventy [70] times and sleep after that. If he does this for eleven [11] nights, Inshaa Allah Ta ‘ala he will see Rasool Allah Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim.

For clearing his heart, he should recite this Darood Taj after Salaatul Fajr seven times, and again, three times after Salaatul Asr and Salaatul ‘Ishaa respectively. For repelling the Magic of Jinn and the Shayateen, and to be safe from an epidemic and any other diseases, he recites it eleven times.

For being safe from enemies and the Hasid [jealousy] of the Haasideen and the oppression of oppressive rulers, and to be rid of sadness and grief, he should recite this Darood Taj for forty [40] nights after Salaatul ‘Ishaa forty one [41] times.

If anyone wants to see Sayyidinaa  Rasool Allah Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim in his dream, then he should recite Salawat ul Taj Shareef, on eleven Friday nights continuously and that too on the advancing stages of the moon. The pre-requisites of reciting Salawat Sharif are below;

a) make wudhu
b) put clean clothes that have been scented with pure scent
c) Face the qibla and recite salawat for 170 times then go to bed
For the sanctity of the soul, one should recite the salawat seven times after salatul fajar three times after salatul asar and Isha each day.

And for overcoming the cruel rulers and enemies, and to come out of the misery of poverty, one should recite this salawat for 40 say continuously, 41 times each day. One who wishes to enhance the avenues of economy in abundance, he or she must make it a routine to revise this salawat sharif seven times each day after salatul fajr or between tahajjud and fajr, besides this salawat al taaj has many benefits!!! it is the panacea of all the present day ills and will enable the reciter to pass a happy and peaceful and prosperous life for here and hereafter….”

The Owner of the Crown and the Ascent and the Buraq and the Standard,
The Repeller of Affliction and Disease and Drought and Illness and Pain.
His name is written on high, served and engraved in the Tablet and the Pen,
The Leader of All, Arabs and non-Arabs,
Whose body is sanctified, fragrant, and pure,
Illumined in the House and the Haram,
The Sun of Brightness, the Full Moon in Darkness,
The Foremost One in the Highest Fields, the Light of Guidance,
The Cave of Refuge for Mortals, the Lamp That Dispels the Night,
The Best-Natured One, The Intercessor of Nations,
The Owner of Munificence and Generosity.
Allah is his Protector, Gabriel is his servant.
The Buraq is his mount, the Ascent is his voyage,
The Lote-Tree of the Furthermost Boundary is his station,
Two Bow-Lengths or Nearer is his desire,
His desire is his goal, and he has found his goal,
The Master of the Messengers, the Seal of the Prophets,
The intercessor of sinners, the friend of the strangers,
The Mercy for the Worlds,
The rest of those who burn with love, the goal of those who yearn,
The sun of knowers, the lamp of travellers,
The light of Those Brought Near,
The friend of the poor and destitute,
The master of Humans and Jinn,
The Prophet of the Two Sanctuaries,
The Imam of the Two Qiblas,
Our Means in the Two Abodes,
The Owner of Qaba Qawsayn,
The Beloved of the Lord of the Two Easts and the Two Wests,

Giving Sadaqah will help with Duas being answered, Sins be erased and sicknesses are sometimes due to sins; Showing gratitude is sunnah and Allah loves those slaves who shows gratitude; gratitude earns more (ziyada) favours from Allah, Allah promises increased favours for those who are grateful and (hates misers see hadith below) "And when your Lord proclaimed: "If you are thankful, I will give you more"(14:7) and "We shall reward those who are thankful" (3:45)  Allah informs us that one of Satans primary objectives is to prevent humans from being grateful. So show you  support be Thankful for these Duas and Khidma and take more rewards from Allah by Helping and Support “The Sufi Healing Project” through Uns Foundation and take the barakah of this site and all the people who read its duas too through Sadaqah Jariyah.

Giving a small amount of sadaqah monthly is continuous giving which is most beloved deed before Allah. Everyday 70 problems come our way and Sadaqah is a shield to protect yourself and your family. The most beloved deed before Allah is that which is continuous, even if it is little. The constant giving of a little is said to please Allah more than the occasional gift of a lot. So if it’s in your means to donate a small amount of £2-£3 or more a month and Support “The Sufi Healing Project” through Uns Foundation.

Know about the shield of giving: "Give Sadaqah without delay, for it stands in the way of problems/calamities."(Tirmidhi) it says 70 problems that is one is shielded from 70 problems with just a small amount of sadaqah.

Saqaqah washes your sins away: "Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire." (Tirmidhi) "Sadaqah appeases-(To satisfy or relieve) the Lord’s anger and averts an evil death." (Tirmidhi)

The Shade of Sadaqah: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his Sadaqah.” (Tirmidhi)  "The generous man is near Allah, near paradise, near men and far from hell, but the miserly man is far from Allah, far from paradise, far from men and near hell. Indeed, an ignorant man who is generous is dearer to Allah than a worshipper who is miserly."(Tirmidhi)

Narrated Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) that the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “There is no disease that Allah has sent down except that He also has sent down its treatment.” [The Book of Medicine: Sahih Bukhari] Allah has never created a disease but created its treatment, that is known by some people and unknown to others, except death.
